Kids & Teens
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends an orthodontic evaluation by age 7. Early evaluation allows us to monitor jaw growth and tooth eruption and determine the ideal timing for treatment. If indicated, Phase I orthodontic treatment may incorporate the use of expanders and other appliances to guide jaw growth, create space, and improve the eruption path of permanent teeth. Later, treatment during the pubertal growth spurt can take advantage of natural growth to optimize lower jaw development and achieve an ideal bite and smile. Our goal is to treat each child at the right time — placing them in our observation program, or if indicated, intervening with orthodontic treatment to guide growth and development for the best long-term result.

Clear Aligners

Braces
Our practice utilizes The Norris System’s nickel-free, self-ligating bracket system, offering numerous benefits to our patients. This system is designed for convenience, reducing the frequency of appointments with its continuous low-force activation. Patients also experience enhanced comfort due to expedited wire changes, and initial alignment is achieved rapidly with less friction and gentle archwire forces. Furthermore, these self-ligating braces ensure consistent wire engagement and reduced variability, promoting predictable treatment outcomes. Maintaining excellent hygiene during treatment is easier as well, as there’s no need for plaque-collecting elastomeric ligatures to engage the archwire. We aim to offer the latest in bracket technology to provide an excellent smile experience.
Retainers
Retention is the final stage of orthodontic treatment—and just as important as the treatment itself. After braces or clear aligners, custom retainers help keep your teeth in their corrected positions and protect your new smile from shifting over time. Airway Health
Dr. Fischer understands that breathing well is the foundation of overall health, and that orthodontic treatment, when approached thoughtfully, can play a meaningful role in supporting a healthy airway. As an airway-focused practice, Dr. Fischer evaluates far more than the alignment of teeth, examining the relationship between the jaws, the position of the tongue, nasal breathing patterns, and the overall development of the face to identify any signs that the airway may be compromised. Working collaboratively with ENT specialists, sleep physicians, myofunctional therapists, and other trusted providers, she takes a truly interdisciplinary approach to ensuring that each patient's treatment supports not only a beautiful smile but optimal breathing and restful sleep. For children, early airway-focused intervention can guide healthy facial growth and help prevent more complex issues down the road. Interceptive
Treatment
Our early interceptive treatment is considered for children ages 4–6, when skeletal growth and development can be guided effectively. Treatment is only recommended if clinically indicated and when a child is emotionally ready to participate. Common concerns we address include crossbites, underbites, crowding in the primary dentition, a narrow and vaulted palate, and airway-related issues. Because chronic mouth breathing and airway health can influence oral and facial development, young patients are screened using the University of Michigan Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ). When appropriate, we take a collaborative, holistic approach by coordinating care with specialists such as allergists, ENTs, myofunctional therapists, and tethered oral tissue release providers.
