At Haven Orthodontics, Dr. Brittany Fischer takes a whole-person approach to orthodontic care, looking beyond straight teeth to the systems that shape a healthy, lasting smile. Her treatment philosophy considers how the airway, jaw development, tongue posture, and bite work together to influence not only the appearance of a smile but also breathing, function, and overall well-being. Rather than addressing symptoms in isolation, Dr. Fischer evaluates each patient as a whole, designing care that guides proper growth, supports open and healthy breathing, and promotes balanced facial development. The result is treatment that does more than align teeth; it builds a strong functional foundation intended to keep every smile healthy, comfortable, and stable for years to come.
Book An AppointmentA holistic approach to orthodontics looks beyond straightening teeth to consider how the airway, jaws, tongue posture, and bite work together to support a patient's overall health. Dr. Brittany Fischer uses this whole-person philosophy to create smiles that are not only beautiful but also functional, healthy, and built to last.
At Haven Orthodontics, Dr. Fischer focuses on a thorough health history and sleep disordered breathing screening as part of the initial consultation. Our team understands that crowded and misaligned teeth do not exist in isolation, but rather are often the symptom of an under developed craniofacial complex. A thorough three-dimensional diagnosis allows for development of an individualized orthodontic plan and referrals to outside providers if indicated.
Airway and breathing issues are multifactorial and holistic orthodontics can play an important role in improving a patient’s symptoms. If the craniofacial complex is under-developed, properly treatment planned orthodontics can normalize a patient’s jaw width and position to facilitate proper tongue position and support nasal breathing. In growing children this is accomplished through growth modification and in non-growing patients structural change is possible through collaboration with surgical intervention.
Yes! Dr. Fischer provides care for all ages, including children, teens, and adults. In growing children, early treatment can guide healthy jaw and airway development. In adults, orthodontic treatment can improve alignment, function and tongue space to better facilitate nasal breathing and maintenance of oral hygiene.
Your initial consultation will include a comprehensive health history inclusive of airway and sleep screening questions, a review of your symptoms and chief concern, and diagnostic records with three-dimensional radiographic imaging. Dr. Fischer will review your skeletal and dental orthodontic diagnosis as well as provide referrals to outside providers such as ENT, allergists, oral surgeons, periodontists, sleep physicians, TMJ specialists, tethered tissue release providers and myofunctional therapists if indicated.
